A Jonas Sister-7

Gazing up, the policeman uttered a shocked cry. He jerked his hand away from Joe and cleared his throat. The eight-foot, overweight man glared down at him, his dark shades reflecting the policeman’s shocked eyes.

“James Morrison, official bodyguard.” The man removed his hand and from his shoulder and pulled out his ID. The police officer nodded feebly as the others stared at him.

“Big Rob says to meet him at the hotel. He’ll be here as soon as he can,” the man’s voice boomed as loudly as Big Rob’s.

“Well, I guess you really are them then,” the policeman muttered, uncuffing Rachel. She rubbed her sore wrists and glowered at him.

“Sorry,” he mumbled.

“Do you know who these kids are?!” James demanded, his voice growing deeper and louder.

“Y-yes,” the policeman stuttered. “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding!”

“That’s too bad!” James retored, cracking his fingers into his huge palm.

“We could still arrest you, you know!” the policeman tried to sound angry but his voice shook with nerves.

“Just clear off and don’t bother us again!” James turned his back on them and they scurried away muttering to one another.

“I’m James,” he held out his hand for Joe to shake.

“Yeah, can we talk later? Kevin needs a doctor!” Joe nodded desperately.

“Sure,” James walked over to Kevin and scooped him up as if he were a toddler. “I’ll take him to the hotel and get him checked. My mates will make sure you get there with your stuff.” James turned, carrying Kevin and walked off. Joe turned to Rachel and they stared at eachother.

“Can we trust him?” she muttered.

“We have to trust Big Rob,” he bit his lip and gazed past Rachel. Two more giant-sized bodyguards were standing waiting for them.

“Come on,” he said beginning to walk towards the case junctions.

“Come on, Nick,” Rachel turned to glance at him. Standing up he wiped his sleeve across his red eyes and sniffed. They stared at eachother for a second.

Joe turned back impatiently to see what was keeping them.

“Nick, suck it up, don’t be a baby!” he called.

Nick felt like yelling at him but he didn’t have the energy.

Rachel calmly placed her arm round his neck and forced him to walk towards Joe. The bodyguards followed them closely, watching every move they made.

“That one there!” Rachel cried, “That’s mine!” she pointed towards a bright pink case which was moving along the conveyor belt. Joe began running towards it but one of the bodyguards stepped in front of him.

“Allow me,” leaning over he lifted her case with almost one finger. He turned back to Joe smiling, “Big Rob’s a great friend. We’d do anything to help him out!”

“Thanks,” Joe murmered rolling the case back over to Rachel and Nick.

Finally they had all their cases. There was now new flights pouring in and the airport began to crowd all over again. They made their way towards the huge metal detecting posts and scanning belts.

“Wait for it,” Joe muttered.

“Please removed your hats, shoes and glasses,” a man held out his hand and stopped them from passing.

“There’s no need for that, they-” the bodyguard began.

“It’s alright,” Joe butted in, “Just don’t do anything to attract attention!”

He removed his shoes first and then his glasses. The security guard eyed them suspiciously. As Joe silently removed his hat and placed it on the belt, the security man’s eyes bulged.

“Aren’t you-” he began. The bodyguard stepped foward and slapped his hand over his mouth. “Keep it quiet officer!”

He nodded as he watched Rachel and Nick copy him.

“Where’s the fourth?” he peered suspiciously around the bodyguards.

“None of your business,” Joe muttered. “Now remember, don’t draw any attention to yourselves!” Joe began to walk towards the metal-detecting posts and as he passed through them, a loud buzzing noise sounded. The security people at either end hurried to check him. Once they noticed who it was, they paused, hesitating.

The loud buzzing had caused everyone’s head to raise in curiosity. There was silence as people stared at Joe. All of a sudden there were screams and cries of shock as people began pushing foward to get to them. Sudden camera flashes appeared as people hurriedly took photos.

“Let’s go!” one of the bodyguards pushed Rachel and Nick through the metal detectors and made a grab for Joe.

“Sorry,” said the officer, “We have to check him.”

“Come on, he’s just a kid!” the bodyguard argued.

“Sorry, sir. We can inspect him behind the curtain if you don’t want any photos?”

“No, that’s not it. He’s just a kid, he doesn’t have any dangerous objects with him! He’s got us for that!”

“My cell!” Joe cried, remembering he’d forgotten to remove his mobile. He yanked it from his pocket, placing it on the belt, he dashed through the metal detectors once more.

Rachel sighed in relief when it remained silent.

“Ok, you can go,” the man said waving his hand to the side.

“Finally!” the second bodyguard grabbed the cases while the other handed them back their hats. They began moving swiftly along the corridors but although they were disguised, the news had spread fast and people began running after them.

“Get in!” the bodyguard cried as he opened a taxi door and shoved the three of them into the back.

They hurriedly loaded the cases as they warded off all the screaming fans.

“Go!” the bodyguard cried as he clambered in and slammed the door.

“Where to?” the driver asked. Looking into his mirror he saw Nick, Rachel and Joe. “Holy cow!” he cried, the steering wheel jerking suddenly. “You’re the Jonas Kids!”

“Dolphin Hotel,” he instructed bluntly.

The taxi drive wasn’t long and as they forced themselves out of the cab, the bodyguard tossed him a wad of money. “Keep the change.”

Rachel yawned as she stumbled out onto the pavement. It was beginning to get dark and they were all exhausted.

The cab driver drove off, grinning as the bodyguards hauled their cases up the steps. Knocking on the huge double wooden doors, they waited. Shortly after a young man answered it. He took one look at them and beamed. “Welcome in!” he opened the door and instantly two men came to help with their cases. “Make yourselves at home. Is there anything we can get you?” he asked.

“No thanks,” Joe forced a smile.

“Ok, here’s you rooms, I expect you’re all warn out!” he handed Joe two keys and then as if he knew they wanted some privacy, he walked away without another word.

“Where’s Kevin?” Nick asked, turning to one of the bodyguards.

He turned to answer but was interupted by someone calling Joe.

Joe looked up. “Rachel, Nick!” Big Rob ran over, a grin stretching from ear to ear. Joe laughed as he hugged them all.

“You’re finally here! How are you?”

“We’re fine. Just tired,” Joe replied yawning.

“Where’s Kevin?” Rachel asked.

“Oh, he’s in his room. The doctor says it’s just the flu, with the antibiotics and some rest he’ll be fighting fit in no time!”

“I knew he was ill!” Nick muttered frustratedly.

“You’re all alright though? None of you feel sick? Perhaps we should get you all checked over?”

“No, no. We’re fine,” Rachel smiled and patted his shoulder to re-assure him.

They were standing in the lounge now and there were only two other people in there. A man in his late thirty’s was sitting reading the newspapers and a young asian girl was sitting in the far corner writing something.

“Well, I’m heading upstairs. You guys coming?” Joe stretched as he yawned once more.

“Yeah,” Nick muttered.

They took the lift with Big Rob and the other two bodyguards.

“This is Reece and Mac,” Big Rob introduced them.

“Hey,” Joe waved a hand.

“Thanks,” Rachel smiled, “For not letting them arrest me.”

“No problem!” the guy called Reece laughed.

“Arrested?!” Big Rob cried. “What did you do?”

“I only told them who I was,” Rachel laughed, “They didn’t believe me!”

“Oh,” Big Rob relaxed a little. “Here we are, seventh floor!” The doors opened and the six of them headed towards their rooms.

“Here’s our rooms,” Big Rob and the others took out their keys. “You guys have neighbouring rooms just a few doors down. We’ll see you tomorrow, ok?” Big Rob unlocked his door.

“Night Big Rob!” Nick gave a little wave as they closed their doors and the three siblings headed down the corridor.

“437, 438, 439…” Joe muttered. “Ha! Here we are!” he took out the keys. “That’s yours Rachel and this is ours,” he handed her a key.

“Ok, I want to check on Kev first though,” Rachel said as Joe unlocked the door. Kevin was laying down on the double bed and James was sitting in the chair watching him.

He jumped up beaming. “Hi, you made it! I was just keeping an eye on him, doc says he’s fine. I guess I’ll leave you to it now!” He said the words enthusiastically but in a hushed voice as he headed over to them.

“Thanks you for bringing him here,” Rachel whispered.

“No problem,” he smiled and then closed the door behind him. Nick, Joe and Kevin’s cases were stacked up in the corner.

The three of them amde their way over to Kevin, Rachel sat on the edge of the bed. He opened one eye and peered at her.

“Hey,” she smiled at him.

He groaned as he sat up, “Trust me to catch the flu on our tour!” his throat sounded dry and crackly.

“It’s not your fault,” Joe muttered sitting next to Nick on the sofa.

“Just get your rest and you’ll be fine,” Nick added smiling at him.

“I’m sorry for ruining the trip guys,” he shook his head disappointedly. “Not much of a big brother, am I?”

“You’re the best big brother ever!” Rachel hugged him gently and then stood up. “Just get some sleep, the lot of you and no fighting! I’ll see you tomorrow!”

She waved as she closed the door behind her and pulled out the key to open her door. It had exactly the same layout as the boys’ but it had less furniture and more space. Grinning she closed the door and collapsed onto the leather couch. A plasma screen was against the wall, next to a mini bar. Turning her head she saw another three doors. Standing up, she inspected them. The first one led to a huge green bathroom with a walk-in shower and full-length mirrors. The second door lead her to a small room with a kitchen and a matching set of table and chairs. The final door led her to her bedroom which had built-in wardrobes, a balcony view of the beach and a huge double canopy bed with cream drapes hanging from it. Diving into the many pillows she sighed as she kicked off her shoes and fell asleep.
